For those of y’all that are 1. shinsai enjoyers and 2. talentswap enjoyers, here’s a nice lil talentswap shinsai fic! I’m hoping for about 10-12 chapters, maybe more or less depending on how I feel. Some spicy content, but mostly just a fun little university romance AU.
Lingered Affection (Chapter XIII)
Pairing: Matt Murdock x F!Reader
Word Count: 4306
Series Summary: You thought breaking up with Matt was the right thing to do. For his sake and yours. Life went on as you navigated through it with the lingered love and affection you still had for each other, neither of you could let go.
Chapter Warnings: Shitty parents, angst?
Author’s Note: Here we are again. I’m late even with my promise to update from probably 2 weeks ago. I’m rusty as hell, and I’ve taken all this time for a measly 4k chapter. I’m very sorry about that 🥲
I’d love to hear your thoughts, so don’t hesitate to reach out! Any likes, comments, reblogs, feedback and ask submissions are greatly appreciated!
P/S: Matt doesn’t actually look like this in this chapter. He’s just wearing a cap!

The warm breaths in his lungs turned to smoke in the bleak air of late winter. The sharp cuts of wind whisked by, dulled by the coat he adorned. Matt had forgone his armour tonight for a specific reason, and that reason had yet made a move. Hidden in the shadow of the alley, he patiently waited. The blood in his veins still simmered angrily, which was the only thing that kept him warm right now. The deep breaths he took did little to dampen the scorching fire that took hold, spreading red, molten marks across his mind.
Matt could still feel the trembling of your lips on his neck when he coddled you with his arms around you. You nestled in his embrace, your face, dampened with tears, buried in the crook of his neck. He held you close with one hand on your back, the other on the side of your head, woven into your hair, soothing you so you could fall asleep. The ghosts of your sorrow still lingered on his arms, where your fingers had been. You held onto him so tight that it felt like you were afraid he would disappear, as if he was the only person who existed in that moment. The heartbreaking sounds of your gutted sobs and rugged breaths seared his soul, leaving a wound that still ached now when he was out, looking for his target. It tore him from the inside out to leave after seeing you so anguished. You were more than someone he couldn’t get over. And perhaps you were right. He loved you too much, so much that his existence was woven tightly around you. A life without you would be a life of pure torment and cruelty. And Matt intended to never let you slip from his grasp ever again.
Lingered Affection (Chapter IX)
Chapter I, Chapter II, Chapter III, Chapter IV, Chapter V, Chapter VI, Chapter VII, Chapter VIII
Pairing: Matt Murdock x F!Reader
Word Count: 3495
Series Summary: You thought breaking up with Matt was the right thing to do. For his sake and yours. Life went on as you navigated through it with the lingered love and affection you still had for each other, neither of you could let go.
Chapter Warnings: Stalking situation, accidental cut on hand caused by a knife, some angst, some fluff. Whiplashes like usual.
Author’s Note: Not me in my ‘hating my writing’ era again 🥲. This chapter is so bad I can’t even look at myself. So, I’m very sorry for such a terrible, terrible chapter. I might disappear for good after this monstrosity 😭
Any likes, comments, reblogs and feedback are greatly appreciated! :)

“Did that hurt?”
You pulled the gauze over the wound on Matt’s chest. His stitches did indeed pull, and the stubborn horn head was too up in his emotions to tell you. You would have remained clueless if you didn’t see the blood seeping out from the front of his shirt. Horrified and relieved that you were saved from answering his questions, you broke away from his grasp to get the medical kit. Matt grumpily sat down on the couch at your request, and you seized the chance to stop talking. Stop confessing. You knew it would only bring questions you couldn’t answer had Matt kept on his interrogation. It wasn’t that you didn’t trust Matt with your problem; you didn’t want to involve him in it.

This guy man…. goddamn.
Never heard of him until he died. But I keep playing the clips going around Twitter. I always say I don’t like stand-up and it’s true but I now realize it’s because I have always been so goddamn uneasy and paranoid about what the fuck is going to come out of these people’s mouths. Like as a queer woman, a Black woman, as someone who grew to be protective of most communities that are the butt of the jokes for comics -stand-up is hell for me.
But that is changing with younger comics who know how to be actually funny and not just bullies. And this guy, Jak Knight, turns out was one of those guys. There’s no way in hell this wasn’t going somewhere homophobic in the past, with those old heads. And to see a straight Black man make a genuinely funny gay joke that is ultimately encouraging queer men to just well… be queer is 👌🏾

“Hi, Dad.”
Veronica looks at the man in front of them, trying to connect him to the Big Bud Dean in her mind. The superficial pieces are there, filling in like a paint by numbers. His eyes are the same colour as JD’s, but where his are clouded, JD’s are almost always sharp and bright. They’re smaller too. She remembers the dark hair, though it’s longer now. Messier. In her mind, it was so slicked back she could have sworn there was oil in it.
What she remembers most is the smile. Calling it a smile was kind. The way his lips were curled like a snake on his face, spreading when his glasses-clad eyes landed on her. The goosebumps that prickled on her skin, the way she never felt safe in this man’s presence, even if she only spent a few minutes with him. They were all she needed to understand why JD didn’t want her in his house, even if she didn’t know everything.
